Thermal Imaging Inspections

tEMPERATURE IS THE KEY

Thermal Imaging Inspections

Coloured pictures.

As far as we are concerned, our FLIR Thermal Imaging cameras are the most important equipment we have at our disposal in termite inspection work.  Our technicians have completed the FLIR Infrared Theory and Applications Training have over 6 years experience in conducting Thermal Imaging camera inspections.

As the name suggests, the camera detects subtle variations in temperature or ‘temperature signatures’ that transmit from internal elements through barriers. So – if there is a hot or cold temperature signature within a wall cavity or the wall lining – we see a different colour highlight on the screen of the camera and we know to investigate further if that colour is not ‘normal’.

To the untrained eye, reading a TI Camera can be a guessing game.  You need to understand the many different variables that can affect what you are seeing on the screen. If you are familiar with construction methods and building materials, you will have a better understanding of what you are seeing.

Another piece of equipment that goes hand in hand with a TI Camera, is an approved Tramex Moisture Meter. Both pieces of equipment are equally important and must be used in conjunction with one another when it comes to carrying out inspections.

We would never do an inspection without them. Contact us to arrange your next inspection.
